Decision log

A dated list of agreed decisions and of questions that are still open.

Entries are added as the owner approves things. The log does not invent grammar or methods on its own.

Approved

  • Anchor Code is an object-oriented language for user-defined recipes, with Java and UnrealScript as the syntax basis.
  • The roots of the language are server and client. There is no project. prefix; the project is chosen by the context.
  • Objects are typed, not strings and not paths.
  • The interpreter receives the selected project’s configuration from outside; a recipe does not store it.
  • An IDE-grade language service is mandatory for the first version.
  • The dependency graph is separate from the group tree.
  • Visibility is not authorization. Preview and permissions come before any change.

Not approved

  • Grammar: quotes around recipe and dependency names, the form of dependsOn, the terminating semicolon.
  • The select and replaceIn methods and target names such as shopProducts.
  • The shape of a recipe’s result, arguments, multiple outputs.
  • Object names below the server and client roots.

State of the implementation

  • There is a prototype of the Build panel: a recipe tree and a dependency graph for preview. There is no evaluation and no writing.
